First Day Guidelines for Leaders

Introduce yourself and have group members introduce themselves.  If your group is brand new,  consider an ice breaker question.  If not, have group members share their favorite summer  memory, or fun fact.

Visually demonstrate how to access the website, if possible, and explain where to find the  questions, lectures, and other tabs on the site.  Encourage members to follow  athomebiblestudy on Instagram for updates and encouraging messages.

There is NO PASSWORD to access the website.  Explain that the website is their source to access  the discussion questions, which they can print off for themselves; or you can provide.

The questions are written to provide options for contemplation and sharing — every question  DOES NOT need to be answered.  Stress that all sharing is confidential.

Each week, the current lecture will be posted on the website for your group to view.   Lectures  will remain archived on the website.

If someone asks for more information, has questions, or know others who would like to sign up,  point them to the Contact page on the website.

The original format that many groups adhere to is: Thursdays, 11:00-1:00. Q&A 11:00-12:00,  lunch 12:00-12:15, lecture 12:15-1:00.  However, each group can determine what day and time  works best.  You DO NOT have to follow the Thursday lunch schedule.  Regardless when you  decide to meet, stick to the agreed upon start and finish time.

We encourage a prayer component as you choose, or as your group decides together. Just  remember, it’s a Bible Study; not a prayer meeting. You have limited time. You may want to  draw prayer partners; carve 5 minutes from Q and A time and 5 minutes from lunch and  designate 10 minutes for sharing requests; or you can communicate prayer requests via text/e mail, etc. Stress CONFIDENTIALITY!

QUESTIONS will be available on the website for group members to print off each week. Have a  great first day — we can’t wait to jump into the Word with all of you!
