Meet Betty!
How did you get involved with @HOME Bible Study? I needed a small group of women with whom I could study and connect.
What has been your favorite study and why? And, or, if you are new, what would you most like to study? Hebrews, because it was unexpected - the high view of God coupled with the depth of application was awesome.
What is your “go to” Bible verse, or story from the Bible that inspires you and why? My life verse is 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. It used to be my “go to” verse for older friends with birthdays, but now it’s simply my personal "go to" verse!
What do you hope to gain through Bible Study, for how do you hope to grow in your relationship with Christ? I want to continually grow in my love, trust and dependence on Christ. I also need reminding of His immense love for me. Staying tethered to The Word is essential in this life long process.
When, and how, do you make time for Bible Study in your day? During the @ Home season it’s easier, I don’t give myself an option of not coming to Bible Study or coming unprepared. Summers are less disciplined for me because I really need accountability! I start the day reading the Psalm that correlates with the day of the month. Sometimes I stop there and other times I add 30 to that day and read more. My favorite daily devotional called Walking With God is my next stop. Where I go from there varies.
How has studying God’s Word impacted your work, social life, or family dynamic? It helps to bring balance and eternal perspective to everything.
Who would you most like to meet from the Bible and what question(s) would you ask them? If you skip the obvious - Jesus, I would say Joseph. I would want to know specific examples of how he not only endured, but soared spiritually when hated, mistreated, forgotten, felt abandoned and alone, etc.
What has brought you joy this past week? Spending some extended time in the country with my husband, garden and bees!
What are you reading or watching right now? OR your favorite book/TV show/movie? Our @ Home leadership just started diving into 1 Samuel in preparation for next years study. I’m about to finish Questioning God by John Hopper which is a great apologetics book. There is also a great podcast connected with the book. Tim and I are watching and really are liking Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. Hoping it stays clean now that I have endorsed it!
What does a typical day in your life look like? HA! I’m laughing because my days are so inconsistent. I always operate off of a list or things may never get done. So my days are marching through the list and trying to be spontaneous to surprise opportunities and focused all at the same time. I spend a lot of time at my desk between Bible Study and work. My goal is to be able to wind down when Tim gets home so we can have quality time together which continues through coffee the next morning until he leaves for work.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time? Spending time with family, working in the garden, tending bees, cooking, baking, watching a good movie or TV series.
Favorite FTW restaurant, and what do you order? Pacific Table, Cedar Plank Salmon with little kale salad.
Favorite place to vacation/spend time in the summer? Hico, TX living simply.
