Meet the Member: Lauren B.
How did you get involved with @HOME Bible Study?
My mom and sister encouraged me to join and it was the best advice they have ever given me!
What has been your favorite study and why? I have only done Genesis and this last study, but I loved them both! I love seeing how God made His promise way back in Genesis and He is still fulfilling it today. And I love that He has used people in the Bible who are sinners, just like us, for His good. That shows us that we ALL fall short of His glory, but He forgives us through His Son. And, or, if you are new, what would you most like to study? I would love to study Isaiah one day.
What is your “go to” Bible verse, or story from the Bible that inspires you and why?
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 and I repeat to myself daily “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 These both remind me that God is on my side and He loves me unconditionally.
What do you hope to gain through Bible Study, for how do you hope to grow in your relationship with Christ? I want to study the Word and fill my heart with it so that when trials come along for my kids, my husband, myself, my friends and my family, I will have His word to guide us through.
When, and how, do you make time for Bible Study in your day?
I do it as soon as my kids go to school. I make my coffee and sit down and make it the first thing I do to start my day. I have really dialed down my “to do” list this year to make time in my mornings.
How has studying God’s Word impacted your work, social life, or family dynamic?
It has made me a happier, more patient and understanding mom. It has also given me an urgency to share with those that are struggling and need God in their lives. It has made me more comfortable/confident to talk to others about Jesus and how believing in Him is the only way to Heaven.
Who would you most like to meet from the Bible? I think it would be David, The Man After God’s Own Heart. David is so devoted to the Lord, he goes to Him constantly to ask for guidance. David doesn’t question God’s protection. He stood up to a giant with just one stone! David is also a sinner, just like us, but God grants him grace and forgiveness and David humbles himself. I pray that I can grow my faith to be like David’s and go to God before I need to make important decisions in life. And like David, I pray that I can listen and do what God tells me without questioning Him and without fear.
What has brought you joy this past week? Having my oldest back in the car with my other kids and me after school. He had after school sports and we were missing him! But now the season is over and I have all of my little people at home with me at the end of the day.
What are you reading or watching right now? OR your favorite book/TV show/movie?
I love to read! My favorites over the last couple of years are The Paper Palace, City of Girls, Where the Crawdads Sing and Malibu Rising. I mostly like “beach reads”.
What does a typical day in your life look like? KIDS, KIDS, KIDS, KIDS, haha! I am really their Uber driver for most of my day.
What is your favorite way to spend your free time? Yoga, running and cooking out with my family. And I love to travel!
Favorite FTW restaurant, and what do you order? Pacific Table is my fav! I love their sushi, especially the Lincoln Roll and the Thai Tuna Roll.
Favorite place to vacation/spend time in the summer? We love to take our kids to Crested Butte to hike, paddle board and just be outside in God’s creation.
